# Extending GeoIPS with Plugins

GeoIPS is designed to be easily extended with new plugins. These can either be
included as new plugins in the core package or developed as separate `Plugin
Packages` that can be installed and used by the core package. This section
provides an overview of how to create new plugins and plugin packages.
